Etiquette classes to be offered for young girls in Morgantown

      Elements of Etiquette and Belk Department Store at the Morgantown Mall are teaming up during July and August to offer etiquette classes for young girls in the Morgantown area.

      The classes will be taught by Lyla Grandstaff, a certified etiquette consultant from Fairmont and owner of Elements of Etiquette, a full-service training and consulting business that teaches the fundamentals of etiquette, protocol, ethics and decorum to adults and children of all ages.

      “It’s never too early to learn good manners,” Grandstaff says. “We begin with girls as young as six and teach them skills including poise, self-confidence, social etiquette, grooming and effective communication. There’s a saying that manners are the mirror in which we show our portrait, so we want to make that portrait as attractive as we can.”

      The four-week classes will meet once a week beginning on the following dates:

?   July 26 at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for girls aged 6-8;

?   July 26 at 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. for girls aged 9-11; and

?   July 26 at 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p. m. for girls aged 12-14.

      The program will finish with a back to school fashion show held on August 21st at 12:30 p.m. in the Belk Department Store.

      All classes will be held at Belk Department Store in the Morgantown Mall. The price for the training is $125 per student and space is limited. Interested parents can register their children at www.elementsofetiquette.com or by calling 304-476-7168.

      Grandstaff holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in business from Fairmont State University and is completing her Master’s Degree in Corporate and Organizational Communications from West Virginia University. She also earned her certification in Business, Social and Children’s Etiquette from the Etiquette Institute of St. Louis, Mo. She is a lifetime member of the Etiquette Institute and a member of Toastmasters International.
